Early In The Morning

For my third project this term, I created another record sleeve. This time for singer/songwriter James Vincent McMorrow. The bad thing is I really enjoy the original artwork, still.

One of my tutors suggested re-using the artwork for my first screenprint to see it in a different context, I think it works quite well. I kept the artwork black and white to try to create a haunting atmosphere to relate to the way JVM sings on this record. The inside artwork kind of relates to an interview I watched of JVM where he explained that he didn't want to explain his lyrics to people, he wanted them to create their own meaning or metaphor, that's kind of what the inside artwork is, I want people to create thier own view on what it means.

Harder Harmonies

For my second project of the year I created a movie poster for cult classic "Donnie Darko". I've created it for the Alamo Drafthouse, which is a branch of cinemas in America that specifically re-screen classic movies. This poster was successfully screen printed and as a result I will in the future create a range of hand screen printed posters for the Alamo Drafthouse.

The image depicts the end of the film when the time Donnie is given (at the start of the film; 28:06:42:12) and the wormhole opens up. Apologies if that spoiled anything for anyone. You should have already seen the film anyway. It's good.

The Most Beautiful Bitter Fruit

A few weeks ago now I managed to get screen printing up and running.
